Pranjal Srivastava, a student of CBSE National Public School-Koramangala, won a gold medal in the International Maths Olympiad 2019.Pranjal secured the 18th rank in the Maths Olympiad this year.This was his second attempt at the International Maths Olympiad.This year the Maths Olympiad was held in the United Kingdom.
In 2018, Pranjal also appeared for the Maths Olympiad, which is considered to be the biggest and toughest sport of competitions worldwide and won the silver medal.His rank was 87 last year.This year, he became the youngest student of India to win a gold medal.600 participants from 210 countries participated in the International Maths Olympiad.

About International Maths Olympiad
The International Mathematical Olympiad is a World Championship Mathematics Competition for IMO high school students and is held annually in a different country.  The first IMO was held in Romania in 1959, with 7 countries participating.It has gradually expanded to more than 100 countries from 5 continents.The IMO Board ensures that the competition takes place each year and each host country follows the rules and traditions of the IMO.

America wins math Olympiad after 21 years with the help of students of Indian origin

With the help of two students of Indian origin, America has won the prestigious International Mathematics Olympiad after more than two decades.17-year-old Shyam Narayanan and 18-year-old Yang Liu Patil were part of the six-member US team that won the Olympiad, winning the title for America after 21 years.India finished 37th in the competition.
The White House posted on Twitter a picture of President Barack Obama’s letter of congratulation, and wrote, “Well done American team.” The US finished first in the International Mathematics Olympiad since 1994. Yang Liu Patil’s mother is Chinese and father is Indian.
Along with Patil and Narayanan, three other members of the US team won gold medals including Ryan Alvis, Ellen Liu and David Stoner.
Sixth member Michael Coral was denied a gold medal by one point and had to settle for silver.
In the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) held in Chang Mei,Thailand, the US defeated China by four points 185–181 while South Korea finished third.China has won the Mathematics Olympiad 19 times the most.
The first IMO was held in Romania in 1959 with seven countries participating.Currently more than 100 countries from five continents take part in the competition.
